RHS 'Young Designer' 2017 Finalist

Progressing the competition theme of an office garden, the design addresses the environmental needs required of an outdoor working space. It interprets the ‘prospect and refuge’ theory by presenting a garden which offers the ability for observation and views (prospect) whilst offering protection, privacy and warmth (refuge).

Planting associated with a woodland environment provide a sense of enclosure and escape from the outside world. Height variations act as a buffer from city noise and create a space for quiet outdoor working.

Views throughout the garden are controlled, revealing key focal elements that entice and invite the user/visitor to discover the space step by step. Designed as a multifunctional outdoor room, a sunken central area is surrounded by lush and calming perennials which encourages a dialogue between nature and people.

The garden was exhibited at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park between 19-23 July. It was awarded SIlver-Gilt. For more information about the competition visit the RHS website.
